Knowledge Discovery and Presentation Using a Web-Based GIS Approach - A Case Study on Illinois Crash and Roadway Data

Project Summary

In the fall semester of 2007, this independent study project will investigate data structures and algorithms of geographic information systems (GIS) for handling several transportation-related datasets that record crash incidents, roadway networks, and jurisdiction boundary within the state of Illinois. We will work on mining these datasets to derive and present traffic safety knowledge and information through the use of GISovle (www.gisolve.org), a Web-based GIS.
