Design Assistant II

Rate: 8.25-15$/hr

Hours: 10 hrs/week – flexible work schedule

Job Description:

We're looking for a creative student who can play an important role in assisting the design and implementation of human-computer interaction (HCI) features in various CyberGIS ( online applications, starting immediately. We are looking for students with HCI and Web programming experience, organized, passionate about HCI, and able to work independently and perform well under tight deadlines. We expect the person would work with our developers and graphics designers to improve existing CyberGIS applications and online platforms and develop effective online user interfaces using most recent Web technology advances.

As part of the application process please submit some samples of work you have done. Work done as part of a class or volunteer project may also be considered, but please identify your contributions clearly.

Sophomores and Juniors who are able to continue working during summer and the next academic year are preferred. Stipend depends on qualification and experience. Position extension after the first semester depends on performance and availability of funding.


  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  2. Experience in HCI
  3. Experience with web application design and development;
  4. Proficient in Web programming languages (JavaScript, HTML5, PHP/Python/Java)
  5. Organized and detail-oriented; and
  6. Ability to work independently with multiple task.
