Group Project Resources

Project Step 1 (15 points) released on Jan. 31, and due on Feb. 16 before the class.
Report length: 5-page maximum, 1.5 line space; font: popular types such as Times with size between 11 and 12

Requirements for Project step 1:
1 (report, 5 points) - Define a case study where interactive online presentation and analysis of spatial data is interesting and valuable, and identify your needs for sharing and analyzing specific spatial data to facilitate the case study
2 (report, 5 points) - Use Entity-Relationship (E-R) modeling to capture and describe key data characteristics
3 (report, 5 points) - Use Object-Oriented modeling (O-O) to capture and describe key data characteristics

Modeling diagrams and their descriptions are expected for both E-R and O-O.

Project Step 2 (15 points) released on Feb. 23, and due on March 31: 5pm (CDT).
Report length: between 3 and 5 pages, 1.5 line space; font: popular types such as Times with size between 11 and 12

Requirements for Project step 2:
1 (report, 5 points) - Identify and explain spatial elements that are related to your
  case study
2 (report, 5 points) - Describe how these spatial elements are incorporated and managed
  based on PostGIS
3 (hands-on, 5 points) - Import and organize your spatial data into PostGIS

Project Step 3 (15 points) released on April 6, and due on April 20: 5pm (CDT).
Report length: within 3 pages, 1.5 line space; font: popular types such as Times with size between 11 and 12

Requirements:
1 (hands-on, 8 points) - Import all your spatial data into GeoServer
2 (report, 7 points) - Describe the steps (note: these are not the tutorial steps,
you need to do some research) GeoServer takes to import your data

Project Step 4 (15 points) released on April 25, and due on May 11: 5pm (CDT).
Report length: within 3 pages, 1.5 line space; font: popular types such as Times with size between 11 and 12

Requirements:
1 (hands-on, 8 points) - Visualize all your spatial data as map layers using OpenLayers
  with the default OpenLayers background.
2 (report, 7 points) - Based on your hands-on experience, describe the strengths and
weaknesses of on-line mapping based on OpenLayers, and design your plans to enhance
your projects by exploiting the strengths of OpenLayers.
