Profile

Junjun Yin is currently a postdoctoral research associate at the CyberGIS Center. Prior joining the center, Junjun obtained his PhD of Spatial Information Science from Dublin Institute of Technology, Ireland, and MSc of Geomatics from University of Gävle, Sweden and BSc of Electronic Engineering from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. He also worked as a PhD researcher at StratAG (a vibrant cluster of academics, industry and government agencies researching advanced geotechnologies) at National Centre for Geocomputation,NUIM, Ireland, and as a research assitant at Department of Land Surveying and Geo-Informatics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Junjun's main research interests focus on spatial analytics for large scale geopstial datasets (e.g. user-generated content with geo-tagged locations, volunteered geographic information, linked networks, recorded trajectories, etc.). For application driven approaches, he is interested in enabling and facilitating mobile spatial interactions for Location Based Services; and for analytics driven approaches, he is interested in studying human mobility patterns within the context of Urban Informatics. At CyberGIS Center, he is exlporing the research domain of using CyberInfrastructure enabled high performce computing for efficient geospatial data handling, procssing and analyzing.
